A Refugee Camp in the Heart of the City

A Refugee Camp in the Heart of the City is an outdoor, interactive, educational exhibit, made up of materials Médecins Sans Frontières/ Doctors Without Borders (MSF) uses in its emergency medical work around the world.

MSF is an international independent humanitarian organization that delivers emergency medical care to people caught in crises in approximately 60 countries. For more information, please visit our web site at www.msf.ca.

The exhibit is a field-sized camp made up of materials used by MSF in its work with refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) around the world. The camp includes shelters, a food distribution tent, water sanitation, a health clinic,a vaccination area, a therapeutic feeding area for malnourished children and a cholera treatment centre. An experienced MSF field worker will guide each group of 15-20 students through a 40-60 minute interactive tour.

Schools (grades 6-12) are invited to participate in our event so students and teachers may imagine what it is like to be one of the world's 42 million refugees or IDPs forced from their homes by war or conflict.

Teachers may pre-book group tours online by following the link: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/117246688.
